In the late 1970s, while producing abstract paintings and bronze sculptures, Alexander made a series of small collages, figurative and quite different from the rest of the works he was doing at that time. The subjects are primarily figures of women placed in dreamlike settings. In symbolic terms, there are mostly silhouettes of women, who often turned away from the spectator. The ideal teasingly manifests herself and then disappears again.
